Construction supplies firm Mick George has teamed up with Thrapston Primary School to offer primary schoolchildren a truck safety session.

The lesson was delivered by the company's driver compliance team, and throughout the session, pupils were presented with a general safety briefing in and around the truck, information on driver blind-spots and safety features of the vehicle.

Pupils were able to compare and test their knowledge, pre and post intervention by completing a simple worksheet to ascertain learnings gained during the session. The school was left with educational summary booklets; safety aids such as Hi-Vis vests, wrap bands and classroom posters to continually enforce the message.

Sue Mawdsley, deputy headteacher at Thrapston Primary School said: ‘’The children really enjoyed the demonstration, and the high-viz jackets were certainly well received. Feedback from the teachers, is how very useful, informative and relevant the talk was and actually made them think more about what they should be talking to the children about with specific relevance to the topic. We would like to extend our thanks to Mick George."
