Audi has applied some major technical updates to its flagship e-tron GT model as part of a facelift.

The four-door coupe is now available in three different models, which all offer a substantial power and and range increase.

Battery capacity has increased to 97kWh (useable), enabling a range of up to 375 miles. Audi says the new unit is also lighter than the battery previously used.

Charging speeds have also been boosted. The e-tron GT now supports 320kW charging and, more crucially, can sustain higher charging speeds for longer. At a suitable chariging point, 174 miles of range can be added in 10 minutes.

As part of a revised line-up, the entry-level model is now known as the S e-tron GT. Power output is rated at 680PS from the car's two electric motors, allowing a 0-62mph acceleration time of 3.4 seconds.

The RS e-tron GT now has a power output of 856PS and a 0-62mph sprint time of 2.8 seconds.

A new range topping RS e-tron GT Performance model produces 925PS.

All variants of the e-tron GT now use air suspension. A more advanced active suspension system is fitted to range-topping Vorsprung models. There is also a four-wheel steering system.

Styling changes have been kept to a minimum, retaining the car's distinctive looks. On the inside there's a new steering wheel and enhancements have been made to the car's virtual cockpit display.

As an optional additional upgrade, a technically advanced panoramic glass roof is available. Unlike previous materials, the panoramic roof’s smart glass minimises direct sunlight and turns opaque at the touch of a button. This is accomplished through so-called polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) technology, which can change from transparent to opaque.

The new Audi e-tron GT models will be available to order in August. Prices are yet to be confirmed.
