Vauxhall has introduced a new hybrid engine for the Mokka, to sit alongside the existing petrol and electric versions.

It uses the same 1.2-litre petrol engine and 48V hybrid system that is offered in the Corsa, Astra and Grandland.

The Mokka Hybrid has a power output of 136PS, which is sent ot the front wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox.

CO2 emissions for the new engine are 109-110g/km and Vauxhall says the car can achieve 57.6mpg.

A small battery (0.89kWh), recharged automatically in certain driving conditions, is able to provide a small zero-emission driving range at low speeds.

In everyday driving, the motor and engine work together to deliver optimum performance and reduced fuel consumption.

In line with Vauxhall’s simplified trim line-up, the New Mokka Hybrid is available in GS and Ultimate specifications, as well as a special edition Griffin trim.

Prices start at £35,320 for the Griffin. The GS costs £30,810 and the Ultimate is £34,115.

The Griffin attracts a 26% benefit-in-kind (BiK) tax rate, while the other models are in the 27% band.
