The Arteon will effectively replace the CC in the Volkswagen line-up, and the brand will be aiming to distance it further from the Passat with a move upmarket.
It retains the ‘four-door coupé’ silhouette of the CC although with a more dramatic styling departure from the Passat on which it’s based.
At launch three engines will be available, a 2.0-litre TDI diesel with 150PS or 240PS and a 280PS petrol of the same displacement. The more powerful units get all-wheel drive and a seven-speed DSG gearbox.
The Arteon promises great flexibility and generous space. Its boot can accommodate 563 litres, or up to 1,557 litres with the seats folded.
