The 2018 Mercedes A Class will be available in June with more technology and greater effiency.
The A-Class has a more sophisticated interior, with features inspired by the S-Class and E-Class, including a two-screen dashboard layout, and simplified design.
Mercedes has fitted a number of driver assistance systems straight from the facelifted S Class, giving the A Class semi-autonomous ability.
A 1.5-litre diesel engine in the A180d is the most efficient with CO2 emission of 108g/km. There is also a 1.33-litre turbocharged petrol, badged A200, and a four cylinder 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol, badged A250. All engines come with a seven-speed automatic gearbox, the A200 is also available with a six-speed manual.
The cabin and boot are roomier than before, while Mercedes-Benz will offer a saloon version for the first time, which will give it stronger appeal in North America and, in Europe, a direct rival for the Audi A3 saloon and the forthcoming Volvo S40.
