Corporate buyers are in for something of a bargain when they opt for the GreenLine version of Skoda's latest Octavia hatchback.

For an extra cost of just £590 over the SE Business model, this car is fitted with front fog lamps that light up automatically in response to steering movements to make it easier to see around corners when you're driving at night.

Given that the GreenLine has been developed to make the most of every litre of fuel, a more significant change to the specification of the standard car is lightweight alloy wheels that come with the latest Michelin Energy Saver tyres that are specially optimised to have the lowest rolling resistance.

But these differences pale into insignificance compared with changes under the bonnet that are producing some impressive economy figures in our test, our  average return has now reached 66mpg.
