Talk to fleet managers about the Skoda Superb and they wax lyrical about its attributes.

Yet the car has hardly dented the fleet market.

The problem for Skoda is not getting the cars on to fleets’ lists – it’s getting the drivers to choose the cars.

In the fleet sector, user-choosers continue to snub Skodas in favour of more mainstream badges like its Volkswagen stablemate.

And that’s a real shame, especially in the case of the Superb.

It’s an excellent fleet car which combines practical usability, quality and affordability in equal measure.

The combined fuel efficiency figure is 47.9mpg.

Drive efficiently, however, and it comfortably tops 50mpg; take advantage of the 10.2sec 0-62mph sprint time and it dips below 40mpg.

Emissions for our 2.0-litre TDI fall below the all-important 160g/km threshold at 155g/km.

Skoda needs to collude with fleet managers to get drivers into test cars; the experience should be enough to overcome any badge snobbery.
