NATIONAL Vulcan - part of the newly formed Royal and Sun Alliance Group - has signed up Fleet Cost Management to look after its 550-car fleet. National Vulcan has used fleet management companies for the past 18 months, before which it conducted the service in-house. The switch to FCM came after a search for a more competitive tender.

The company employs about 1,000 people including 420 field-based engineer surveyors. Based in Manchester, it has eight regional offices, each with a sales force depending on having reliable cars.
