HERTZ Rent a Car general manager Aidan O'Kelly has been replaced as general manager of the UK operation by former Hertz Australia managing director David Schulte. The company stressed the move was not a demotion for O'Kelly, who becomes 'country manager' but a measure designed to increase the company's resources to tackle the tough UK market.

O'Kelly, who became Hertz's general manager in 1989, will now share responsibilities with Schulte, but concentrate on marketing, sales, partnerships, replacement business and pricing. Schulte, who joined the company in Orlando in 1980, will report direct to Hertz International president Antoine Cau, and will be based at Hertz's UK headquarters in South London.
