TRAFFIC information provider Trafficmaster has predicted 'a significantly improved financial performance' this year after reporting a doubling of pre-tax losses for the year to December 31, 1995 of £2.47 million (£1,032 million).

With turnover up almost 150% to £2.55 million (£1.03 million) the company said it sold more than 37,000 Trafficmaster systems last year compared with 3,000 the previous year. Chief executive David Martell said: '1995 is the second year of a three-year plan to make Trafficmaster a profitable and pre-eminent supplier of information.'

At the same time as launching a number of new products Trafficmaster is continuing to expand its coverage of the UK's road network. Sensors, which monitor road traffic, are now on all motorways and this year and next the company plans to instal devices on 1,100 miles of trunk roads.
