VELO, the UK's leading provider of fleet accident and insurance management services, has won a major contract with chartered accountant and management consultant Coopers & Lybrand. The Marlow-based company will provide comprehensive accident management and uninsured loss recovery services for the 1,364 cars in Coopers & Lybrand's nationwide fleet.

The cars are covered by third party insurance and VELO aims to cut costs by carrying out repairs through its approved network, working at pre-negotiated, discounted labour rates. After an accident the driver makes a single telephone call to VELO and is taken through the necessary procedures.

At the same time VELO's 20-strong in-house engineering team controls the repair time as well as costs, vets all estimates against Thatcham and uses VELO's VideoLink video imaging system to speed up authorisation. VELO then gathers all claims data to provide risk management advice and implement a series of appropriate solutions with the aim of reducing costs, leading to lower insurance premiums.
