PROTON is offering two new engine options - a diesel and a higher performance 1.8 16 valve - and improved levels of standard equipment for 1996.

The company hopes the options will strengthen the Persona's appeal in the company car market. Prices, which are on the road and include delivery, plates and 12 months road tax are: Four door - 1.5 GLSi, £10,650; 1.6 XLi, £11,950; 1.8 SEi, £13,250; 2.0 SDi, £11,950. Five door - 1.5 GLSi, £11,050; 1.6 XLi, £12,350; 1.8 SEi, £13,650; 2.0 SDi, £12,350.
