BRITAIN'S 51 police forces and the Home Office police department have extended a tyre deal with Goodyear until 1998 following the end of a three year agreement.

The decision means Goodyear is the only tyre company with a national contract to provide the police with tyres - covering 85% of the police needs. A Home Office spokesman said: 'The deal provides very good value for money for the police.'
