FORD is expanding its Escort Cabriolet range with the introduction of a new Ghia model and the permanent addition of the Calypso version. Power is down and specification up as the 115 PS 1.8 litre Ghia Cabriolet replaces the previous 130 PS Si Cabriolet with the 90 PS 1.6 litre Calypso being an addition to the line up. A 1.6 litre automatic Ghia is also available for the first time.

The 1.8 litre car has a top speed of 120 mph and can accelerate to 60 mph in 10 seconds and the 1.6 offers a top speed of 108 mph and a 0-60 mph time of 11 seconds. The 1.6 automatic has a top speed of 106 mph and a 0-60 mph time of 14.2 seconds. Prices are: 1.6 Calypso manual, £13,995; 1.6 Calypso automatic, £14,925; 1.6 Ghia automatic, £16,725; 1.8 Ghia manual, £15,995.
