TOYOTA has revealed details of its new Landcruiser models, called the Colorado, on sale from August 8. It replaces both the 4Runner and the mid-sized Landcruiser II models and will target both the Land Rover Discovery and Mitsubishi Shogun.

The Landcruiser Colorado joins the larger Landcruiser GS/VX models as an addition to the range competing in the mid-sized sports utility market. Prices range from £19,990 to £32,990 plus £430 on the road charges. The vehicle features full-time four-wheel drive with centre and rear differential locks and offers a choice of three or five door body styles. Specification levels are GS, GX and VX with an automatic option and a choice between 3.0 litre turbodiesel or newly developed 3.4 litre V6 petrol engine.

Full on the road prices are: GS 3.0 diesel 3 dr manual, £20,420; GX 3.0 diesel, 3 dr manual, £24,420; 5 dr manual, £27,120; GX 3.0 diesel 5 dr automatic, £28,320; VX 3.0 diesel 5 dr automatic, £32,420; VX 3.4 V6 petrol 5 dr automatic, £33,420. While the three door seats five, the five door can seat up to eight - all forward facing.
