COWIE Group has bought Wigan-based Lathom Van Hire, which operates a 900-strong fleet of cars and light commercial vehicles, for £4.5 million.

The contract hire and motor group already operates a rental fleet of up to 2,000 vehicles, mostly cars, through 20 of its 36 dealers. Cowie will retain the management and staff of Lathom to run the business.
