ADDITIONAL safety options and an options price rise have been added to the 1997 model year Mitsubishi Space Wagons. The new range consists of 2.0 litre GLXi manual with standard diamond pack option and diamond option pack plus ABS, and the 2.0 GLXi automatic with diamond pack and diamond pack plus ABS. The automatic variant is not available in standard specification.

The diamond pack now includes a driver's airbag, electrically operated sunroof, roof rails and a roll-out luggage cover. The pack costs £1,000. With ABS the price is £1,500. Other items of additional 1997 specification for all models include headlamp levelling and ELR/ALR seatbelts for safer child seat installation.

Prices range from £16,299 (on the road, and no price change) for the Standard model with manual transmission - to £18,739 for the automatic model with the range-topping diamond pack with ABS.
