CHEVIN Computer Systems has won an order for eight of its RoadBASE fleet management systems from the Red Cross. The Red Cross ordered the systems after a demonstration in Geneva and Chevin customised the software to meet specific requirements such as handling multiple currency input for spare parts.
The systems are all linked to a central system at the Red Cross's Geneva HQ and will be used worldwide to help manage the aid organisation's 2,500-vehicle fleet. Based in such outposts as Tbilisi in the former Soviet bloc and Kigali in Africa, the systems will communicate with headquarters via e-mail transfers to provide reporting of local fleet operations.
