As he lifted the wraps off Puma, the Fiesta-based derivative designed to take on GM's Tigra coupe, Automotive Operations president Jac Nasser revealed: 'We won't be stopping here - we will add fresh twists in future. The small-car segment was very important to Ford's heritage and the company was creating increased demand stemming from the requirement for cars with personality and more distinctive styling, he claimed.
'We have had more than 100,000 orders for the Ka, which is tremendous, considering this is an all-new car in a new subsegment. Puma is the third element in our strategy. It is affordable and sporty. We're getting 38mpg in the combined European drive cycle and class-leading servicing costs will contribute to this car's low cost of ownership,' he said.
