THE RAC and Fleet News are joining forces to challenge the fleet and motor industry to take part in a major five-a-side football tournament for charity. Hopes are high that 96 teams will sign up for the RAC-Fleet News Five-a-Side Charity Challenge with the aim of raising £4,000 for Motability.

The tournament will be officially launched at the Fleet Motor Show at Silverstone from April 29-May 2 with entry forms available on both the RAC and Fleet News stands. Places will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis as soon as the £50 entry fee per team is received.

The Challenge, part of the RAC's centenary celebrations and coinciding with the 10th anniversary of RAC Business Services for Fleets, will be held on Sunday, July 27 at the Pitz - the north west's premier five-a-side soccer centre at Ardwick, Manchester - which has 12 astro-turf pitches.

All money collected beyond event expenses will be donated to Motability which, with a fleet of more than 300,000 cars on the road nationwide, helps disabled people gain mobility. Pre-show inquiries or advance requests for entry forms should be made direct to Andy Newbold, RAC Fleet Centre, 65-81 St Petersgate, Stockport SK1 1DS. Telephone 0161 477 6500, ext 705.
