THE fleet industry has nothing to fear from the new Labour Government which will concentrate on ensuring that the motor industry remains one of the bedrocks of the UK economy.

That is the view of Garel Rhys, professor of economics in the automotive unit at Cardiff Business School, who said: 'The Labour Party understands the importance of the motor industry in the British economy and they know the importance of the fleet industry to the motor industry and the British economy.

'There will be no nasty surprises. The Labour Party is not looking to increase the real burden of company car taxation and they are not looking to penalise company cars. They feel the present position is about right.'
