LLOYDS Bank-owned Black Horse Vehicle Management Services has appointed David Harrison as its new managing director, following the departure of Stephen Barrett to daily rental giant Hertz Europe. Harrison also holds the position of managing director of First Service Management, United Dominion Trust's leasing and fleet management operation, which founding managing directors Nick Brown and Nigel Stead left earlier this year.

Black Horse VMS and First Service Management will continue to trade, despite the merger of Lloyds Bowmaker and UDT, both now subsidiaries of Lloyds Bank-TSB, and will be based in Harrogate. A review is currently taking place of which back office and customer facing functions they share, and which remain independent.

'There are two separate trading styles, but we are looking at a total integration of our contract hire business, and there will be various parts, such as manufacturer joint ventures and direct sales to corporates,' said Harrison.

'Both businesses continue to run, but under different management. I am in the process of recruiting additions to the team to ensure our ability to grow effectively in a market to which Black Horse Vehicle Management Services is committed.'
