DIRECTORS and senior managers have more accidents per business mile than any other company car driver, according to an analysis of crash statistics relating to the 14,000 vehicles operated by Fleet Management Services. And the average cost of repair for those accidents is £1,019.58 - almost double the average cost for accidents suffered by sales executives.
The analysis also reveals that company car accidents across the board are on the rise after falling for the last two years and that three out of every four drivers on Fleet Management Services' fleet had at least one accident last year compared to around two out of three over the previous two years.
Statistics show that, on average, company directors and senior managers have an accident every 9,250 business miles. Sales executives have an accident every 11,000 miles, sales engineers every 12,500 miles and office-based middle-management every 14,500 miles. The survey suggests stress arising from the pressure to win business may be the reason behind the high incidence of car accidents involving both directors and sales staff.
