THE Association of Car Fleet Operators is helping the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions gather data on the cost of vehicle crime to companies. The organisation is asking fleets to give details of their experiences in order to help the DETR compile a statistical breakdown of theft of and from vehicles.

ACFO director Stewart Whyte said: 'We are working with the DETR to put some cost parameters around the security problems that fleet operators face. From this the DETR will be able to build up data which will break down the global crime figures given by insurance companies and the police.'

Any fleet managers interested in passing on their statistics can contact Stewart Whyte on 01730 260162.
