AUDI is taking advance orders for an additional batch of S8 luxury sports saloons after the original allocation sold out. The handful of range-topping S8s initially earmarked for the UK were snapped up prior to its arrival next month, but Audi has made a few more of the £61,544 supercars available to British customers.

Powered by an uprated version of the 4.2 litre V8 engine in the standard A8, the sportier S derivative develops 340bhp and features permanent four wheel drive, a 5-speed tiptronic gearbox and sports running gear which results in a 20mm lower ride height.

Re-plumbing the air intake and exhaust outlet systems gives the S8 an even more powerful set of lungs, but maximum speed is governed to 155mph. The hefty purchase price buys satellite navigation, GSM hands-free phone, electric everything, front and rear side airbags and, of course, full leather trim. Cars ordered now will be ready for delivery in September.
