THE 1998 Fleet Motor Show will move to Donington Park away from its Silverstone home, organiser EMAP Automotive has revealed. The move is part of a package of significant changes. Test driving will be pre-booked via a computerised system, allowing manufacturers to reach their target audience and drivers to better organise their time. Special themed days will attract specific types of visitor - including directors and those interested in the service sector.

At this year's Fleet Motor Show, Donington emerged as the favourite midlands venue among visitors - and the midlands was the most preferred area of the country. More than 2.5 million people live within a 40 minute radius of the circuit.

The floorplan will be updated, with manufacturers positioned around the outside of the hall. Other changes include stricter visitor quality control, business forums, and a shift to a Monday-Thursday timetable although exact show dates have still to be finalised. The first day will be a non-driving day to encourage a more business-orientated atmosphere, and a series of overseas packages will be devised to bring in foreign fleet and motor industry personnel.
