A NEW daily rental company called Jasmor is setting out to win corporate business, and bears more than a passing resemblance to Alamo's arrival in the UK at the start of the 1990s. Jasmor is the new name of established hire company RVR, owned by MSF Motor Group, which has about 1,500 vehicles based at 15 locations.

Its chief executive is Richard Bledsoe, former managing director of Alamo Rent A Car, who oversaw Alamo's entry to the UK with the acquisition of Guy Salmon in 1991 - which at the time had 18 locations and about 1,500 cars - and other former members of Alamo's management team have also joined Jasmor.

RVR was traditionally strong in the credit hire sector of the rental market, an area where Bledsoe intends to remain active while branching out into other sectors. 'We will be going out after corporate accounts and contract hire and leasing accounts, as well as some in-bound business from the United States,' he said. Jasmor is already a nominated supplier to leisure hire organisation auto Europe, and has 'near airport' locations at Heathrow, Gatwick, Newcastle and Edinburgh. The company aims to have 30 locations by the end of 1998, partly through the addition of franchisees, and will use Ford and Vauxhall as its primary suppliers.
