SSANGYONG has bolted on a big blower to pep up the performance of its Mercedes-powered Musso diesel off-roader. The new turbocharged 2.9 unit, which develops 26% more power and 28% more torque but is more economical than the naturally aspirated unit - becomes standard this month.
The Musso now comes with 120PS and 184lb-ft of torque at 2,250rpm and is capable of 97mph and 0-60mph in 14.4 seconds - five seconds quicker than its predecessor. Combined fuel consumption is up by more than 2mpg to 30.7mpg. Standard equipment on the £19,155 GL includes alloy wheels, driver's airbag, central locking while the £19,950 also benefits from anti-lock brakes.
