FLEET Cost Management has reverted to its former name of Overdrive as part of a major internal reorganisation. This will see the fleet management specialist focus in future on the third party market, providing a branded service on behalf of contract hire companies, motor dealer groups and manufacturers, which account for 40% of its 125,000-strong fleet.

Overdrive will also continue to serve its existing in-house fleet customers. The changes confirm that Overdrive will retain its independence from PHH Vehicle Management, which became a sister division within Cendant Business Answers, following Cendant Corporation's acquisition of FCM earlier this year.

The newly-named Overdrive, based in Birmingham, will share the Overdrive fuel card branding, but the fuel management business will remain the responsibility of Cendant in Swindon. Plans include a move to larger premises in the Birmingham area by the end of the year.
