A FLEET manager recruitment drive has been launched by the Institute of Car Fleet Management in conjunction with Vauxhall and within five days of the initiative 310 people had responded. About 17,000 letters have been sent by Vauxhall fleet operations director Bill Parfitt to people on the manufacturers' fleet database inviting them to join the ICFM which, in return, has waived the £15 application fee for all new members.
Once the application has been accepted the new recruit must still pay the annual membership fee - of £20 (student level), £42 (associate level) or £52 (full member). Parfitt said: 'Since it was established six years ago, the ICFM has supported and assisted employees of the fleet world both in training and obtaining professional recognition.' And, he told fleet managers: 'You're a fleet professional. With ICFM membership your professionalism will be officially recognised.'
ICFM membership totals about 740 people and secretary Peter Moxon said he was delighted at Vauxhall's initiative and the initial response from fleet managers. The ICFM can be contacted on 01844 261828.
