NINE fleet managers are now in the running for places on the RAC Scholarship Awards Scheme run in conjunction with the Institute of Car Fleet Management. Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview by the panel in April and successful applicants will be announced at the 1998 Fleet Motor Show, being held at Donington Park between May 11-14.

From nearly 50 initial inquiries about the training initiative - in which the RAC is investing £50,000 - nine entries are now being assessed by the selection panel. The scheme will run over three years and offers sponsorship for two consecutive 16-month training programmes leading to an RAC Scholarship Award and an ICFM Diploma in Car Fleet Management, as well as probable election as an ICFM fellow. Up to eight sponsored places are on offer for the first programme, which starts this summer.
