DAEWOO unveiled its new small car - the Matiz - to the world at the Geneva Motor Show with the vehicle due to be launched in the UK in September. The city-car was one of many unveiled by manufacturers at the show looking to win sales in the booming sector which to-date has been dominated by the Fiat Cinquecento and more recently the Ford Ka and SEAT Arosa.
The Matiz will become Daewoo's fourth UK current model following on from Nubira, Lanos and Leganza launched in September last year. The five-door hatch is powered by an 800cc engine which offers 52PS at 6,000rpm. A tall car in which driver and passengers sit very upright Daewoo says the Matiz has the look of an MPV. The grilleless front end is dominated by sharply slanted oval headlamps and an oversized colour-matching bumper.
