BMW has launched a 50-strong Servicemobile fleet which will assist customers under the manufacturer's roadside assistance programme. Located in strategic areas around the country, all the vehicles are new BMW 5-series Touring models and are manned by technicians trained in electronics, mechanics, first aid and roadside safety.
Each vehicle is also equipped with Global Positioning Satellite tracking equipment. BMW (GB) first offered roadside assistance in 1980 and followed that with a mobile service programme in 1990 which consisted of 34 dealer-operated Servicemobiles using BMW 5-series cars which delivered a dedicated on-the-road rescue facility for new car buyers. Every new BMW sold in the UK receives three years' membership to BMW Emergency Service.
