VOLKSWAGEN'S new small car, the Lupo, will be launched in the UK early next year, it was announced this week. Prices for the new car have yet to be revealed. However, it will come with a choice of three engines - a new 1.0-litre four-cylinder engine developing 50bhp, a 1.4-litre 75bhp and a 1.7-litre SDI 60bhp direct injection diesel.

The expressive front-end gives the Lupo an unmistakable appearance and the individual interior features bold colours. The sub-Polo car will be the first model in the fast-expanding sector to feature a fully galvanised body, meaning Volkswagen can offer a 12-year rust-through protection warranty.
