SAINSBURY'S cleaner, low emission unleaded petrol will soon be available on 50 forecourts around the country. It is already on 12 in the London area and plans are to expand CityPetrol to a further 50 sites over the next three months.
It follows on from Greenergy's ultra-low sulphur CityDiesel which is now priced at the same level as ordinary diesel following government taxation. The petrol is about 2p more than standard unleaded, but already Greenergy is lobbying the Government for a reduction in duty. The ultra-low sulphur fuel will not only run on all vehicles that take unleaded petrol, it is also likely to improve fuel economy by maintaining optimum performance from a catalyst and electronic sensors.
