THE AA has marked a milestone in its pay-for-use fleet rescue service by answering its 1,000,000th callout. And the surprised millionth customer was Marian Rex, client development manager of the CSL Group, who called out the AA after her Renault Megane Coupe had a flat tyre.
She said: 'It was pouring with rain and getting dark. Once I had told the AA call handler that I was alone in the car she explained that I was therefore considered to be in a vulnerable situation and that help would be with me as soon as possible.' Rex was back on the road within about 20 minutes, but never expected the follow-up call saying she was the millionth person to contact the pay-for-use Fleet Rescue service.
The service allows fleets to pay for individual callouts rather than an annual fee. By doing this they can not only save money but also find it easier to solve problems if one car is persistently needing attention.
