AWARD-winning fleet manager Peter Carson is on the move again, taking charge of Pearl's 2,300-strong fleet. In the last 12 months Carson has resigned as ND Service Team fleet manager, following a split with bosses, and set up his own fleet management and advice company called Insource Fleet Management.

After only a couple of months in existence this company has been abandoned by Carson in favour of the opportunities with the insurance giant Pearl. He says he missed the cut and thrust of working as part of a team and believes he can now put his 22 years' experience in the industry to full effect.

'I couldn't turn down the chance of working with this fleet,' he said. 'I enjoy working as part of a team far more than sitting on my own in front of a computer screen.'

Carson is twice winner of the Fleet News Fleet Manager of the Year Award, medium fleets, and was the first UK fleet manager to pass the Institute of Car Fleet Management's diploma in fleet management. He has also been heavily involved in the RAC-sponsored ICFM scholarship .
