FLEETS are reaping the benefits of dramatic cuts in New Year fuel prices as oil companies promote special offers to attract motorists to their forecourts. The latest PHH AllStar monthly fuel report claims pump prices have dropped by up to more than 6p a gallon across the UK, with the average price of unleaded petrol now below August 1997 levels.

Highest and lowest fuel prices recorded by PHH are: unleaded - highest, Oban 68.59p a litre/311.81p a gallon; lowest, Stoke-on-Trent 61.74p/280.67p. Four star - highest, Oban 75.9p/345.04p; lowest, Selkirk 64.89p/294.98p. Diesel - highest, Oban 69.64p/316.58p; lowest, Stoke-on-Trent 61.98p/281.76p.
