FLEET managers have been receiving the first full copy of the Powershift Register, listing the cleanest cars they can add to their choice lists. About 75 copies of the £50 register have been distributed this month listing alternatively-fuelled vehicles which qualify for Powershift grants.

Eighty conversions covering manufacturers from Ford and Vauxhall to Volvo, Skoda, Mitsubishi and Renault are listed in the first issue of the register, which is expected to double in size during the year as more models are approved by the Powershift team, part of the Energy Savings Trust's initiative to promote greener vehicles.

The initiative has introduced banded grants ranging from 25% to 75% of the cost of conversion, typically between £1,500 and £2,000. For an information pack on the Register call the Energy Efficiency Hotline on 0345 277200.
