VAUXHALL has won its two largest single orders for the supply of dual-fuelled vehicles in the UK. Yorkshire Water has placed an order for around 130 liquefied petroleum gas/petrol vehicles and Arnold Clark in Scotland has made an initial order for 100 vehicles for its daily rental operation and in time take a further 100, with another 100 due to be delivered later.
Yorkshire Water, which has a commitment to convert most of its 600-strong fleet to LPG, is to take on additional bi-fuel Astravans and Combo vans. Dennis Smith, Yorkshire Waters' procurement manager, said: 'Our move towards an environmentally-friendly fleet has already seen us make fuel savings in excess of £10,000, which has been maximised by us bunkering our fuel.'
Yorkshire Water is also planning to increase the number of its bunkering sites to 18, including its existing site at Huddersfield.
Malcolm Noyle, Vauxhall's alternative fuels manager, said: 'The two deals will hopefully open the door for more substantial deals.'
