BRITAIN'S cheapest car to buy - the £4,724 on-the-road Perodua Nippa EX2 five-door - is the cheapest to run at 13.1p per mile over three years/60,000 miles, according to CAP Monitor's 'Top 40' value for money chart.

Leading the chasing pack are the Vauxhall Corsa 1.0 Trip (13.8ppm) and the Toyota Yaris 1.0 16v (14ppm). However, a third of the chart is dominated by two manufacturers - Daihatsu and Volkswagen - with six cars each in the list.
