EDINBURGH-based John Menzies has switched contract hire supplier for its 500-strong solus Rover fleet for the second time in 16 months. Price is understood to be behind the distribution company's decision to undergo the upheaval of integrating a new supplier so soon after the award of the previous contract.

Rover Corporate Finance, a division of Alphabet, has won the business from Avis Fleet Services, part of GE Capital Fleet Services, which replaced British Car Contracts in October 1997 as John Menzies' chosen supplier. Ian Kelly, John Menzies' group transport manager, said 'commercial reasons' and 'cost effectiveness' lay behind the appointment of RCF.
