HIGH-performance Ford Mondeo estates are being adapted by Ford Special Vehicle Preparations for use as fast-response police dog units.

Complete with two air-conditioned kennels the 2.0-litre Si has attracted attention from Gwent and Cambridgeshire forces, both of which have taken delivery of two vehicles, with other constabularies also showing an interest. The estate has a top speed of 123mph and accelerates from 0-60mph in 9.7secs. It also has improved suspension and anti-lock brakes.
