THE Vauxhall Vectra narrowly beat the Ford Mondeo to the accolade of the UK's favourite fleet car on the 98,000-strong Lex Vehicle Leasing fleet.

Britain's largest contract hire and leasing company said it bought 20,000 cars last year with the Vectra narrowly in number one spot ahead of the Mondeo. The Vauxhall Astra was in third place, followed by the Peugeot 406, Rover 400 series, Renault Laguna, Ford Escort, Volkswagen Passat, BMW 3-series and Audi A4. Vauxhall also took top spot in the manufacturer's league table on the Lex fleet followed by Ford, Peugeot and Rover.
