A 'hit squad' of accident assessment engineers has been launched by RAC Accident Services in a bid to slash vehicle repair times for fleets by up to two thirds. The nationwide network of Thatcham-tested RAC authorised assessor engineers will standardise service levels and speed up accident damage assessment by cutting out unnecessary paperwork.

Engineers will use a virtually paperless system with the latest computer estimating technology and electronic communications systems. A start-up force of 40 engineers will grow to 60 next year and all will have a minimum of five years' experience. Assessment and communication will be through the Audatex computerised accident damage estimating system, AudaWorkstation, which combines motor manufacturer and Thatcham repair data.
