TOYOTA has secured the biggest UK deal in its history with a multi-million pound agreement to supply all cars for electricity, water and telecommunications giant Scottish Power. Neither Toyota nor Scottish Power - which includes Manweb, Southern Water and Scottish Telecom, among its divisions - would give a figure on the utility's fleet size but 9,500 vehicles, including 3,000 cars, was declared in a deal earlier this year between the utility and National Tyres and Autocare.

For the past five years, the Scottish Power fleet has been Ford-badged but the company decided to put the business out to tender and Toyota beat Ford and Vauxhall to secure the three-year deal. Mark Hall, general manager of Toyota Fleet, said: 'This is a landmark deal and we are proud to be associated with such a high profile business as Scottish Power. It demonstrates that our commitment to providing a comprehensive range with keenly competitive wholelife costs is paying off in a big way.'
