LEX Vehicle Leasing has re-launched its internet services and is rolling out a new dedicated site for leasing customers as part of an investment of hundreds of thousands of pounds in electronic commerce. Users of the updated site will be able to find real-time price quotes for vehicles based on ideal monthly costs, preferred mileage or contract length, using a pricing system the firm has been offering on its site for the past two years.
Doug Tomlinson, e-commerce product manager for Lex Vehicle Leasing, said: 'Our old site was aimed at gaining a presence on the web but, as internet use has grown, so have customer expectations. The initiative is part of a major overhaul of IT systems ensuring that the business is able to fully support its increasing customer base in the new millennium.'
Lex Vehicle Leasing customers will also be able to review their fleets over the internet under a new 'extranet' service, called Lextranet, to be launched in the autumn. It has already been trialled in a one-year pilot programme. About 12 companies have used the system so far, with 50 or so expected to sign up by the end of its first year on sale.
