NEW maximum fee levels for all MoT tests will come into force from September 1. For Class IV (cars, light vans and vehicles with up to eight passenger seats), for example, the charge goes up from £30.87 to £32.11.

The new scale of fees is meant to reflect rises due to inflation and an increase in the average time taken to conduct emissions for vehicles fitted with catalytic converters. The maximum fee for duplicate test certificate remains at £10.
