A GUIDE to computerised vehicle routing systems for lorries being published by the Government-funded Energy Efficiency Best Practice Programme could lead to a similar publication being aimed at car and van fleets. Junior transport minister Glenda Jackson revealed in the Commons the development of the guide that shows how fleets can save time and fuel by using routing software.

The guide, to be published in the summer, will include case studies to give concrete examples of the savings that can be achieved by using software to choose the right vehicle for different types of journey or workload. The Energy Efficiency Best Practice Programme can be contacted on 01235 436747.
