The Mercedes-Benz C-class estate will make its world debut at the International Automobile Show in Detroit in January. It will go head-to head with the BMW 3-series Touring, Audi A4 Avant and Alfa Romeo 156 Sportwagon.

The new car replaces the existing C-class estate, and will go on sale in the UK in the summer, along with the new Sport Coupe. Two engines will make their debut in the C-class range when the estate is launched - a new 2.7 CDI diesel and a 3.2-litre V6 petrol. They will join the current range of 1.8, 2.0 supercharged and 2.4 V6 petrol engines and the 2.2 CDI.
